GST was one of the country’s most significant tax reforms. It is a single tax replacing all the previously applicable various taxes such as VAT, Tax, Service Tax etc. On 1 July 2017, GST was introduced nationally. The Goods and Services Tax is a tax on commodities and services based on a dual basis, which taxes both state and central government on all goods and services. All companies are needed to register for each state in which a particular firm has been registered for a GST number.     Certificate of GST

    Once the GST registration has been requested, the officer will verify the form and accept the form submitted. After you have successfully filed your GSTIN and GST Certificates, you will obtain your GST number. Note that it usually takes between 3 and 7 days to receive the GST number provided the form and documentation have been filed correctly.

    To receive the GST number, you must apply for GST registration by visiting the GST site, i.e. www.gst.gov.in. To start the procedure, you need a valid email address, mobile number and business PAN.

    You will need documents such as PAN, Aadhaar card, business address proof, cancelled check, bank account statement, business registration proof or incorporation certificate, digital signature, photograph, address proof and ID proof of the director or promoter, board resolution or letter of Authorization from the authorised signatory.

    The government does not impose any costs for GST registration. However, if you seek a chartered accountant or consultant, you may be charged a professional fee as the whole registration process is cumbersome.

    Section 25(1) of the CGST Act, 2017, a business owner may register his business under GST in any State or Union territory where they may be registered. If you have your business set up from two different locations, you require separate GST registration for each site.
