    About Import Export Registration

An Importer Export Code is a unique 10-digit code required for every Indian import/export business owner. The code is issued by the Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce, without filing or renewal. Importers are required to clear customs and shipments and transfer money to foreign banks. Exporters require IEC to transmit and receive money from international banks. Briefly, no importer/exporter can operate in India without IEC.

      Benefits of ICE

      Overseas Trading

The code allows you to export your goods and services to any other country and import the essentials of your business to your own country. It makes trading across borders easy and lawful.

      Online Service

Now, obtaining an IEC could be useful for sitting at home. If you offer accurate documentation, you could have them at home. There will be no need to hurry to the government office.

      Facilitates electronic transfer (EFT)

EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) is a new service offered to exporters that allows exporters to submit their licence fees via the Internet, rather than visiting a bank to pay. This is proposed to make electronic payments more convenient. Only applications filed electronically are accepted.

All importers must mention their IE code when their goods arrive in India. All exporters must give their IE Code while exporting from India. Additionally, RBI now asks people importing or exporting services to mention IE Code in bank account overseas transfers. Therefore, IE Code is essential for everybody involved in India’s import or export.

You need to connect to the DGFT website, and from there you can quickly download the IEC allotted copy. Furthermore, if the DGFT website does not work properly, you must visit the GST department.

Anyone proposing to import or export products and services from or to India must obtain IE Code.

A copy of the PAN Card, evidence of business address and business [Partnership deed, Incorporation Certificate, etc.] and a letter from the lender are necessary to obtain IE Code registration.

IE Code Registration can be received from the DGFT within 10-15 working days of all relevant documents and applications.
